My Site Isn't Showing on Google — 7 Reasons and Fixes

Why your site isn't showing on Google and what to do — seven common reasons and a clear fix for each.
You built your site, you're ready to show it off — but when you search Google, it's not there. Sound familiar? Don't worry, almost every new site owner goes through this, and the reason is usually simpler than you'd think. Let's walk through the seven most common reasons your site isn't showing on Google, with a fix for each.
First, a quick check. Go to Google and type: site:yourdomain.uz — using your own domain. If a list of your pages appears, the site is indexed and the problem is elsewhere. If nothing shows up, start with the first reasons below.
1. The site isn't indexed yet
The most common reason. A new site needs time to enter Google's index — sometimes days, sometimes a couple of weeks. To avoid waiting, add the site to Google Search Console, enter the page URL in ‘URL Inspection’ and click ‘Request Indexing’. We do this first thing when we hand over every project.
2. Missing or empty sitemap
A sitemap is the list of all your pages — Google uses it to find its way. If it's missing or empty, some pages may never appear. The sitemap is usually at yourdomain.uz/sitemap.xml — open it, check it, then submit it in Search Console.
3. robots.txt is blocking search
A very common but easily missed mistake. During development, search engines are blocked on purpose, and then someone forgets to unblock. The finished site ends up telling Google ‘do not enter’. Open your robots.txt file and make sure there's no ‘Disallow: /’ inside.
4. Too little content
Google needs something to show. If the site has nothing but a couple of lines of text, it won't consider it worthy of top positions. The fix is useful content: describe your services in detail, add a Q&A section, keep a blog. This very article was written for exactly that purpose.
5. The site is too slow
A slow site annoys both visitors and Google. If a page takes more than three seconds to load, half your visitors leave before it opens. You can check speed for free with PageSpeed Insights. The cause is often heavy images; compressing them makes a big difference.
6. The site isn't mobile-friendly
In Uzbekistan, most people go online from a phone. And Google evaluates the site in its mobile form first. If the site breaks or is hard to read on a phone, rankings drop. Just open your site on your own phone and take a look.
7. You're targeting too competitive a query
Sometimes the site is indexed, fast, and beautiful — and still invisible. The reason: you're targeting the hottest query, where large sites have been entrenched for years. The fix is to start with more specific, longer queries. Instead of ‘website creation’, try ‘restaurant website price’. Reaching the first page for a query like that is much easier.
Conclusion
As you can see, most of the reasons are technical and fixable. Usually the problem isn't one thing but the sum of several small ones.
